…Calls for resistance to ‘divisive agenda’

Brigadier-General Kapeh Alwali Kazir (rtd), has issued a stern warning against what he describes as the “grave damage” being inflicted on Northern Nigeria by the foreign-owned media channel, AREWA24.
In a statement issued yesterday, Kazir alleged that AREWA24 is part of a grand plot to undermine the values of the North and deepen existing divisions among its people for the benefit of external interests.
“They are a part of the grand plot to undermine our values and further divide the North with intent to destroy us”, Kazir stated. He accused some Northerners of aiding this agenda, describing them as “unconscious, gullible, or just outrightly stupid”.
Kazir, son of former Chief of Army Staff Alwali Kazir, warned that any effort or narrative designed to split the region along ethnic or religious lines must be “immediately countered” He urged Northern leaders and citizens to be vigilant against what he sees as subversive content and to “strategically and aggressively” counter the channel’s influence.
“So, the likes of Arewa 24 TV must be strategically and aggressively countered, and their messages eliminated. Their sponsors, drivers, and facilitators must also be identified and neutralised”, he declared.
Kazir stressed that for him, the concept of Arewa – or Northern Nigeria- transcends narrow ethnic labels, describing the Hausa-Fulani identity as an inclusive amalgam of cultures. “Any injury to Hausa-Fulani, like ‘malam’ or ‘aboki,’ is an injury to the concept of Arewa or Northern Nigeria and its people, which should be resisted by all conscious Northerners, whether Muslims, Christians, or any other religious belief”, he stressed.
Citing examples of countries torn apart by internal conflicts such as Libya, Iraq, and Syria, the retired general warned that the North must not allow similar “anarchy and discontent” to fester.
“Our unity is our strength. We are all HAUSA-FULANI!” Kazir declared, calling on all Northerners to unite and reject any divisive agenda he believes foreign media like AREWA24 are promoting.
